Demetra Nelson Reid - Co- Chairman

Demetra Nelson Reid is a retired vice president with a 30-year global commercial and government sector organizational and business career in the Nuclear Engineering Industry. She has served in varying operational disciplines and leadership roles, including division president. Over her career, she received numerous departmental accommodations and has developed and maintained three entrepreneurial ventures.  Demetra is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where she has served as both undergraduate and graduate chapter president. She is a Life Member of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, where she served as chapter vice president. While residing in Tennessee, she served on the board of directors for both industry and civic organizations, including the Methodist Medical Hospital system. She was a long-
term community leader in Girl Scouts of America and an advocate and member of the Site-Specific Advisory Board – Health Effects Subcommittee where she served as vice chairman. She was the recipient of the “Making A Difference” community award for providing services and collaborative resources to underserved populations. She and her husband, Dr. Rodney Reid, reside in Columbia, South Carolina. They enjoy supporting the Clemson Tigers and IPTAY, traveling, spending time on the beach, and reading biographies and
science fiction novels. Together, they have five children.
